Healthy Choices
Sound Shore Medical Center is offering our Making Healthy Choices series in response to New York State's "Prevention Agenda toward the Healthiest State".
To help with this effort, County Health Departments and local hospitals across the State have identified two health issues that with intervention can have a positive life-style change and lead to improved health for residents. Westchester County Department of Health and area hospitals have selected "salt reduction" and "increased physical activity" as the two initiatives with the greatest potential benefit for the community.
Since heart disease is the number one cause of death in Westchester County, decreasing salt in your diet and increasing physical activity can reduce your risk factors for this disease. Sound Shore Medical Center is addressing these two topics with public service announcements, featuring the topics on our cable TV program "Health Talk". and on our call-in radio program, "To Your Health". In addition, we have created posters, flyers and brochures for distribution internally and through community outreach programs.
