The Holiday Toy and Coat Drive was initiated in December of 1994 by Kathy and Joe Curto in grateful appreciation for the excellent care Kathy received at SSMC during her first, high-risk pregnancy. The children who benefit from this vast undertaking are needy children who are seen in the Medical Center's Pediatric Clinics. The number of children attending the party has grown from 60 in 1994 to over 1,200 last year!
This year the 19th Annual SSMC Holiday Toy Party will be held on Wednesday, December 5th. Donations of new, unwrapped toys for boys and girls ranging in age from newborn to eight years old would be appreciated. Dolls, balls, infant toys, board games and educational toys are preferred ($10-$20 range). Toy contributions can be left in the Antepartum Testing Laboratory or Santa’s Toy Box in the Joyce Pavilion Lobby of the Medical Center. While we are grateful for contributions of new toys for children ages newborn to eight years old – or, if you prefer, cash contributions are welcome to help cover the cost of coats.
All contributions are tax deductible and must be received by December 5th. Checks should be made payable to SSMC Foundation Toy & Coat Drive, and forwarded to the foundation office at SSMC. We are also updating our mailing lists and offering the option of email for future communication. If you prefer future communication by email, please send your information to ssmctoysandcoats@aol.com. If you have any questions, please call 914.365.4567.
