A primary care network forms the basis of services, which includes: education, prevention, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, support and long term care services. Throughout the Health System a patient/family centered focus within a multi disciplinary framework is provided by registered nurses through assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation to assure physical and emotional well-being of the patient as well as to address the concerns of family members. The full continuum of nursing opportunities are available within SSHS - Sound Shore Medical Center is a 400 bed facility in New Rochelle including Schaffer Extended Care Center and The Mount Vernon Hospital is a 200 bed facility in Mount Vernon. The specialties range from. emergency care, medical-surgical services, oncology, pediatric care, maternal child care, critical care, perioperative care to outpatient services, acute geriatric care, long-term care, adult day care, rehabilitation services, occupational health and substance abuse care.
